The idea to build a trebuchet was spawned from a conversation about fun DIY projects, while playing chess with my grandfather.

His enthusiasm & curiosity to understand & solve problems through a lens of physics drove me to explore concepts which I could build & test utilizing both the skillsets I've garnered along with what tools were available to me (parents garage).

The goal was to build a trebuchet out of traditional construction materials, capable of throwing apple sized objects up to 300ft.

Initially defining parameters were: to build no taller than 6 feet, and to be capable of launching an apple 250ft. This Concept was tested initially via scale models, then refined in simulation.
